Did I Marry the Right Person?

Dear readers, this post is dedicated to all couples who are in a relationship, in the midst of preparation for their wedding, already married, engaged or planning for a family. You may have read this meaningful post before, but definitely no harm re-reading and reflecting on its meaning. And I shall continue to work hard to get all my pictures in my previous posts all fixed.

During one of our seminars, a woman asked a common question. She said, "How do I know if I married the right person?"

I noticed that there was a large man sitting next to her so I said, "It depends. Is that your husband?" In all seriousness, she answered "How do you know?"

Let me answer this question because the chances are good that it's weighing on your mind. Here's the answer.

EVERY relationship has a cycle. In the beginning, you fell in love with your spouse. You anticipated their call, wanted their touch, and liked their idiosyncrasies.

Falling in love with your spouse wasn't hard. In fact, it was a completely natural and spontaneous experience. You didn't have to DO anything. That's why it's called "falling" in love because it's happening TO YOU.

People in love sometimes say, "I was swept of my feet." Think about the imagery of that expression. It implies that you were just standing there; doing nothing, and then something came along and happened TO YOU.

Falling in love is easy. It's a passive and spontaneous experience. But after a few years of marriage, the euphoria of love fades. It's the natural cycle of EVERY relationship. Slowly but surely, phone calls become a bother (if they come at all), touch is not always welcome (when it happens), and your spouse's idiosyncrasies, instead of being cute, drive you nuts.

The symptoms of this stage vary with every relationship, but if you think about your marriage, you will notice a dramatic difference between the initial stage when you were in love and a much duller or even angry subsequent stage.

At this point, you and/or your spouse might start asking, "Did I marry the right person?" And as you and your spouse reflect on the euphoria of the love you once had, you may begin to desire that experience with someone else. This is when marriages breakdown. People blame their spouse for their unhappiness and look
outside their marriage for fulfillment.

Extramarital fulfillment comes in all shapes and sizes. Infidelity is the most obvious. But sometimes people turn to work,a hobby, a friendship, excessive TV, or abusive substances.

But the answer to this dilemma does NOT lie outside your marriage. It lies within it. I'm not saying that you couldn't fall in love with someone else. You could.

And TEMPORARILY you'd feel better. But you'd be in the same situation a few years later. Because (listen carefully to this):

The key to succeeding in marriage is not finding the right person. It's learning to love the person you've found.

SUSTAINING love is not a passive or spontaneous experience. It'll NEVER just happen to you. You can't "find" LASTING love. You have to "make" it day in and day out. That's why we have the expression "the labor of love." Because it takes time, effort, and energy . And most importantly, it takes WISDOM .

You have to know WHAT TO DO to make your marriage work.

Make no mistake about it. Love is NOT a mystery. There are specific things you can do (with or without your spouse) to succeed with your marriage.

Just as there are physical laws of the universe (such as gravity), there are also laws for relationships. Just as the right diet and exercise program makes you physically stronger, certain habits in your relationship WILL make your marriage stronger. It's a direct cause and effect. If you know and apply the laws, the results are predictable, you can "make" love.

Love in marriage is indeed a "decision". Not just a feeling .

Remember this always:

"God determines who walks into your life. It is up to you to decide who you let walk away, who you let stay, and who you refuse to let go."

I love Sunday as it's the only day in the week i get to spend almost a day with Mr A. To build better relationship, bond and loving the company.

Usually i have Sunday cooking classes as i learn how to cook a random dish. I love preparing meals with Mr A which normally i cant & therefore stood near him to watch. So in cooking classes it feels like we are doing it together. I know it sounds silly but i like it when he scolds me during lessons.

This Sunday I decided to skip lesson with Mr A just to laze around his place. But cooking is inevitable, we visited the market twice in a day as he's cooking yummy Bitter Gourd Spare Ribs Soup! Brought some home and my mum loves it so much so that she brought it to work today. =)

Right after LB launch last night, his friend brought us to Sunset Way for Ice Cream at The Daily Scoop

Mr A told me that their menu changes daily so it's really up to luck. I had Hazelnut Haven and i think the ice cream tastes so-so. Anyway, for the past one month i have been working on an invaluable gift from scratch. Got all my raw materials from papermarket and did some touch up week by week. It was a killer but i'm pleased with my artwork. Received some compliments from friends & juniors and I am glad he likes it too!

Back:

Check out the scout logo which i drew:

And the front (before i write anything in the centre & drawing a scout logo on the tent):

Photobucket

Here's another artwork which i sent to his gmail this morning. Using only Paint software to create. Cute yea?

Photobucket

Oh ya, check out my pretty pink wrapping paper! There was some leftover and it was fuchsia on the other side of the wrapper, so i used it to create a small ribbon as shown. =)

Photobucket

It was a great relieved that Mr A can finally fit into his Fred Perry cardigan. The first cardigan i bought from fred perry online was too big for him and sadly it was out of stock for exchange. So i sold it cheaper to my brother in law and got the one below in Size S.

Photobucket

Fred Perry used DHL for shipment and item reached me next day after it has been dispatched. So fast, I LIKE! I too get my fair share of gift from Mr A.

Photobucket

And on Sunday, Mr A taught me how to prepare French Toast. Now i know how to do it, i can do it for my sisters & fix breakfast for Mr A!

I hope everyone enjoyed their CNY gathering and break. My week was full of great fun and laughters, really love the gathering with all my loved ones. I thank the Lord for everything. I am grateful!

CNY EVE
Came back home in the evening on CNY EVE after running errands in Jurong Point and dropping by Mr A's place. Gave Mr A a little gift to start off the bunny year and as a starter for V Day and his bday next week.

Photobucket

This year is a really special year for 2 great reasons. Firstly, we have Oh-so-cute Nikey in ta house! His warm greeting just made my day!

Photobucket

And his owner, Chef Julia was cooking reunion dinner for the family. I  ♥  home cooked food!

Photobucket

Guess what Nikey had for dinner? Beef - which was all gone in less than 5 mins!

Photobucket

CNY DAY 1
Breakfast on the first day. It is mummy's culture to have these for breakfast & I'm loving it!

Photobucket

What i wore (paired with a nude pink heels):

Photobucket

Lovebonito - Vandyke High Collar Blouson in WHITE
Agneselle - Saccharine Clutch in ROSE PINK

Received a handful of compliments for the top. =) Something demure & simple for visiting at Mr A's relative's place.

Love the decoration and festive mood in church that day.

Photobucket

And Mr A was caught red handed playing games while i'm around! haha~

Photobucket

CNY DAY 2
2nd reason why this year is special because it's Jen Jen, Bro in law, Baby Nicole and Mr A first CNY visiting to my house! =))

Baby Nicole is so adorable. She's 8 months old and i cant wait for her to turn 1 year old in 6th June!

Photobucket

After lunch, we all drove down to Jurong Safra for Kbox. It's only $18++ per pax with 2 foc drinks. Happy!

CNY DAY 3
There was a gathering at Bro In law's place on Day 3 with his & Mr A's friends. The guys woke up early to go the market while Jen and I only left our house in the afternoon.

Mummy Jen Jen was busy doing her make up.

Photobucket

What I wore for the gathering (paired it with nude pink heels):

Photobucket

Bonitochico - Oriental Lace Over Satin Top in Pink
All accessories from Esprit and Minibits

Once again, received compliments for this top which i purchased a year ago. Never got a chance to wear it until this year.

Haven't had a photo with my sister for a long time.

Photobucket

Reached Bro In Law's place early in the afternoon. Checked out Baby Nicole in her own nest. *melt*

It was captivating & hilarious. Never know there was such a place which history will never ever touched on. Already forgotten and never heard of by many singaporeans. I love Joanne's love story and my heart sank at the last story about the wedding.

And now i have more fresh stories to hear from my daddy. =))

Both of us didnt have a proper meal that day. So Mr A started cooking dinner at 9pm when we reached his home after the movie.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Dinner was served at 10pm & i already felt fat before eating. =(

We had prawns! It's so full of taste - spicy, hot and sour! YUMMY!

Photobucket

And my favourite Fish & Veggie soup. Baby is superb!!

Photobucket

Mr A was so damn pleased with his cooking and himself! Weee~

Photobucket

One more week to Valentine's Day and Mr A's birthday! One stone kills 2 birds! Instead of having 2 celebrations, we only need to have 1. Instead of buying 2 gifts, i only need to get 1. By getting him gifts, i also have my V Day share. LOL! Sounds so good!

But since we are celebrating both events on a day, am i supposed to arrange and give him a surprise for his Bday? Or is he supposed to arrange and date me for V Day? Hehh~

Aww, cooking class must resume again. Zzz I know everyone is still on Holiday mood.

But anyhow, Have a heavenly week ahead!
